Mission:

Create a vibrant warm environment where our community can gather for good food at affordable prices, encouraging the growth of fellowship and friendship on Sunday mornings after mass.

Brief Description:

  • ⁠A food-prep team would gather on Saturday morning to purchase and prepare food items for Sunday
    Food items prepared are as follows:
    • Kitchen
    • Main meal:
      • 4 items (Example: Nasi Lemak, mee goreng, porridge, Laksa)
      • Snacks (Example: Chicken wings, fishballs, Siewmai, Char Siew Baos, otah fishcakes)
      • Dessert (Example: Jemput, jemput and pulut hitam)
      • Tradition Kueh (Eg Lopes)
      • Baking Corner
      • Puff pastries (Chicken curry, Tuna & Egg and Sausage & Cheese)
      • Breakfast Rolls
      • Brownies
  • ⁠Prepare and serve snacks to priests after district penitential services during Lent and Advent
  • ⁠Prepare and serve snacks for priests training sessions
  • ⁠Participant in Parish Feast Day events

Meeting:

Every first and third Sunday of the Month starting at 6am to 1.30pm

Lectors Ministry

Lectors Ministry

Mission:

Lectors serve God and the Church by proclaiming the Word at Mass, living out the Gospel and contemplating Scripture.

Brief Description:

  • ⁠Proclaim the liturgy of the word at weekday Masses and weekend Masses
  • Lectors will be rostered for a weekend mass at least once a month
  • ⁠Lectors will prepare for the assigned reading by breaking the word at least one week before the before the assigned date.Lectors who are not able to attend the meeting and prepare will need to reschedule their assigned reading
  • ⁠To prepare the Intercessory Prayers for the week

Meeting:

Breaking of the Word for those reading on either Wednesday or Thursday at 7.30pm

Social and Events Team (S.E.T.)

Social and Events Team (S.E.T.)

Mission:

To glorify God by fostering fellowship, uniting the parishioners in joy and gratitude through the organization of meaningful social activities and events while supporting the mission and initiatives of the church.

Brief Description:

Committed members of the Social and Events Team (S.E.T.) assist in organizing and coordinating parish events and activities. The team supports fundraising initiatives, manages registrations, and helps ensure that parish gatherings and celebrations run smoothly, creating opportunities for parishioners to come together in fellowship and community.

Activities:

Set up counters to promote and sell items for fundraising purposes (such as Walker biscuits, Tupperware, and other parish initiatives). Arrange and manage registration counters for talks, seminars, and parish programs. Handle ticket sales and distribution for parish events. Plan and organize major parish events such as the Parish Feast Day Dinner and assist in coordinating other social and community activities within the parish.

Family Life Ministry

FamLife (Family Life Ministry) 

Vision:

To build and empower the community to care, love & serve one another. To foster closer family bonds, strengthen the faith amongst parishioners & build stronger communal relationships. 

Mission:

To support Catholic families and individuals, building a holistic community that promotes spiritual growth, family values, unity & service to the church.

Brief Description:

The FamLife Ministry of the Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea is dedicated to building and empowering a Christ-centered community where our direction is on care, love, reflection & serving one another. Guided by the Catholic Faith & Teachings, we aim to foster stronger family ties, increased spiritual growth, develop meaningful relations & lasting friendships amongst parishioners within the church & beyond their home.

Activities:

To support this mission, our Ministry organises a wide range of activities designed to meet the diverse needs of our parish community, including:
· Social events like Picnics, Movie Nights, Trips, Retreats & Workshops that offer bonding, fun, creativity, faith renewal & personal reflection.
· Parenting workshops to equip families with guidelines & faith-based insights.
· Formation of interest groups for parishioners to bond.
· Community Service Projects to extend love and care to those in need.
Through these initiatives, the Family Life Ministry Invites all parishioners to come for this incredible journey with us in faith, hope, charity & love to become a living witness of Christ & for Christ to our Family, Friends, Church & fellow community.

Meeting:

Once a Month in Church during the last week of the month. Followed by Formation & Bonding once a Fortnight.
